Gratitude unlocks the fullness of
life. It is regarded as a virtue that shapes not only emotions and thoughts but
also actions and deeds.
D L D.A.V Model School Pitampura celebrated Gratitude
Day on 1st October 2018 wherein all the students and teachers expressed their
gratitude towards the people who play an important role in our daily lives.
Madam Principal nourished us with her golden words inspiring us to be grateful always and to be most grateful to God who has given us so much love .The true essence of gratitude was brought out through a havan performed which was followed by langar .
A number of activities were
planned for the students. This
initiative was taken by the teachers of Modesty House. To start with a short power point presentation was shown
to the students. Other activities to follow were poem recitation and extempore
on the theme Gratitude. The students participated with full zeal and
enthusiasm.

To start with a power point presentation based on the life and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi was shown to the students followed by a short quiz based on the life on the great personality.
The next activity conducted was an extempore on the topics.

FRIDAY

Primary Plus activity was conducted in class V and Newspaper activity was conducted in class VI.
A comprehension passage, mathematics puzzle and other activities were done in the class. The children enjoyed the activity . The passage was read out and new words discussed .
In class VI the students were instructed to find out verbs from a given paragraph in the newspaper.
LIFE SKILL ACTIVITY

Life skill activities were conducted .
The themes taken up were :

Class V : Team Work
The main aim of life skill activities was to make the students understand the benefits of group work,develop ground rules and assign responsibilities,value everyone’s contributions, and resolve potential conflicts. In class V the students were also divided into groups and enacted a situation in which they as a team over came an adverse situation

In today's activity the students enjoyed playing throw ball. Each class was divided into two teams . All the students played with full zeal and enthusiasm.
CLASS - IV
HAWAN
D.A.V. has not forgotten India's rich culture. The Hawan is not merely a ritual, but a simple and a healthy process which gives us peace . We the DAVians strongly believe in eradicating inner as well as outer imperfections by destroying undesirable elements and enriching positive energies in the environment through this holy practice. The students of class IV took part in hawan and recited the mantras with full devotion .

Primary plus activity was conducted in classes IV & V.
The activity conducted in class IV were related to Science and
the activities conducted in Class V were related to English and Science.
The students enjoyed the activities conducted . These activities helped to enhance their vocabulary and thinking skills.

The project titled Commonwealth
School Enterprise Challenge Programme is
being supported by International
Education Society Teach a man to fish.
The
articles for display were hand made by the students . These included
jute bags, decorated diyas , candles and bandhanwars for Diwali.
The main value inculcated in the
students was sharing and caring for the ones who are under privileged.
Our young entrepreneurs showcased
their marketing skills quite efficiently . The parents were also very
supportive and appreciated the efforts made by the school in inculcating values
in the students.
The event received an overwhelming
response from the parents Madam Principal expressed great satisfaction on the
contribution of one and all towards a noble cause.

THEME : GOOD TOUCH AND BAD TOUCH
D L DAV Model School in collaboration with Amazon organised a 'Puppet show' to spread awareness about good touch and bad touch among school children. It was an initiative to sensitize
the students.The children are enthralled by the vibrant activity, vivid colours and delightful music.
The message conveyed by the puppet show was that during adverse situations we should always
share our feelings with our elders. A short movie which also highlighted the message of good touch and bad touch was shown to the students.

THEME : E-WASTE MANAGEMENT
The students were instructed to bring cut outs of e waste.
They made a collage using the cut outs . The main depiction was on how e waste should be reduced , the harmful effects of e waste and the measures that can be taken to reduce the E - waste.
The students also spoke on the harmful effects of E waste.

The workshop aims at enriching the knowledge of students and enhancing their life skills .The students are involved in group activities which inculcate in them spirit of team work and leadership along with critical thinking and logical reasoning skills.

SUN AND THE SAFE MODES FOR SOLAR OBSERVATION
In this workshop, students learnt about the SUN and the reasons to study
it. They also learnt about different solar features. They also
learnt the ways to observe the Sun safely and realize the importance of using
safe methods for solar observation
CLASS VI
MODULE : THE SCIENCE OF LIGHT
A workshop named “Science of Light” was conducted for the students of class VI. The duration of the workshop was 90 minutes.Students understood the importance of light through various hands-on experiments. They learnt about various phenomenon of light such as reflection, refraction, total internal reflection, dispersion ..

‘Magnificent family of the Sun’
The workshop commenced with a presentation explaining "Magnificent Family of the Sun", in which
unique features of all planets, comets and asteroids were explained. The students were engaged in an
interesting activity in which they joined pieces of jigsaw puzzle to make a Solar System in their way
followed by an interesting outdoor group activity. The students participated with full zeal and
enthusiasm to enjoy the activities.
CLASS VI
MODULE : FINGERPRINTS OF UNIVERSE
A number of hands on activities were conducted in the class. The students thoroughly enjoyed the activity.

PRIMARY PLUS ACTIVITY WAS CONDUCTED IN CLASSES IV-V
The students enjoyed solving tricky Mathematics
problems. They also came to know about the techniques and materials used in making fire works.How the fireworks get colour and shapes. The activities were enjoyed by all the students.
NIE activity was conducted in class VI. The activities were
related to Mathematics. The activities helped to improve their Mathematical skills.

A story telling session was organized for the students of classes V & VI. The resource person was Ms. Nikita Dutta Gupta.
The students enjoyed the session with full zeal and enthusiasm.
